Nyeri County has a new health Services Fund Board which was inaugurated last week.
The board will among other roles establish and promote initiatives that will allow local people to access affordable health care services.
Other roles include supervision of the administration of money drawn from the fund, mobilization of resources for the fund, offer appropriate advice to hospital management boards on proposals on user fees and approval of primary health services expenditure plans and receive reports from the Hospital Management Boards.
The board comprises of chairmen from Level 4 hospitals, representatives from the county government, a representative of rural facilities and the fund administrator.
Members are Richard Kimani, Dr. Francis Kimani, Jesse Kamau, Newton Wambugu (Health Chief Officer), Dr. Nelson Muriu (Health Director), Francis Ngugi (Finance Chief Officer). It will be chaired by Anthony Mithanga.
