Nyeri County received a donation of medical supplies worth Sh 15 million from an Italian based organization.
The donation also included kitchenware and furniture from Goal Smile Onlus, a non-governmental organisation.
The medical supplies are a ventilator, endoscopy equipment, maternity supplies, wheelchairs and four complete dental units.
The equipment will be distributed to health centres across the county with Munyaka Medical Clinic in Tetu constituency being among the beneficiaries.
The kitchenware and furniture will go towards furnishing Nairutia Vocational Training Centre.
Speaking at the county government office’s grounds while receiving the donations, Governor Mutahi Kahiga said that he was pleased with the partnership between his government and the NGO since more sectors such as agriculture and education are set to also benefit.
He thanked Goalsmile Onlus for their support and effort in improving the living standards of Nyeri residents through the partnership.
Mutahi was accompanied by the county’s Director of Health Nelson Muriu, Joseph Kagiri the Kenyan representative of the Goal Smile Onlus and Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega.
Kanini praised the partnership saying it has benefited Nyeri residents and expressed hope that it would be nurtured and sustained in order to attract more support to other sectors.
