The ACK Diocese of Nyahururu in collaboration with other seven churches has commissioned the Church and Community Transformation Movement to fast track holistic transformation of the community.
The 8 churches under their umbrella, Church and Community Mobilization Process (CCMP), Kenya Chapter will oversee the successful inception of the movement, whose mission is to champion church and community mobilization.
While presiding over the launch in Nyahururu town, Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Major (Rtd) Samson Gachathi, pointed out that the movement is aimed at leveraging God given talents and locally available resources within the communities to fight poverty, uplift livelihoods and improve the overall wellbeing of citizens.
“Through this process, we embrace a holistic approach, addressing not only spiritual needs, but also the social, economic and physical needs of the people we serve,” noted the Bishop.
Additionally, the cleric noted that the movement is a testament to the power of collaboration among churches to drive meaningful and lasting change in the communities.
He called upon all stakeholders of goodwill to join the churches so as to fast track transformation of communities and lives.
“We are guided by the Bible in Epistle of John 10:10, which points to the need to have life in abundance; a call for joint effort to address poverty which remains the root cause of many challenges evident in our society,” he added.
The Bishop noted that in order to achieve the abundance life, all stakeholders must bring together their different strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges; appreciating and embracing diversity as key to unity with in turns contribute to a flourishing society.
He further noted the movement will focus on church and community transformation, economic and environment sustainability, peace building and community resilient among other areas.
The cleric called upon all faith leaders, civil servants, politicians, congregants as well as youths and children to play their role in the program to enhance societal transformation.
Laikipia County Chief Officer, Gender, Youth, Sport, Culture and Social Services, Kenneth Kibaara, lauded the churches for the movement, which targets to improve the livelihoods of the society, promising continued cordial working relationship and support to the churches.
Kibaara also lauded the Bishop for his effort of bringing together and nurturing youths citing recent get- together in Nyahururu that had brought together about 5, 000 youths and offered footballs and uniforms for youth’s football teams under supervision of the diocese.
The Evangelical Allliance Relief Fund (TEARFund) and International Organization which work closely with churches for community mobilization also graced the event.
The CCMP, Kenya Chapter comprises, The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), The African Brotherhood Church (ABC), The African Christian Church and Schools (ACC&S), The African Inland Church (AIC), The African Interior Church (AIC), The French Church, The Pentecostal Evangelical Fellowship of Africa (PEFA) and The Redeemed Gospel Church.
