Nurses in Homa- Bay County have given the county government a 48-hour ultimatum to pay them their delayed salaries for the months of January and April this year.
The nurses said if the government fails to comply, they will down their tools and paralyze health care services.
Through their union Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Homa-Bay branch, the nurses demanded that their salary for the two months be paid within 48 hours by the county government for smooth delivery of services.
The union Chairman Amos Ogaga said that they signed an agreement with the county government that their salaries should be paid not later than 8th of every month but the county government has reneged on the agreement.
Addressing the press in Homa Bay Town, the union officials said that the county government was withholding their January salaries claiming that they never reported on duty following the workers strike which was held in January this year.
