NPSC recruitment panel sworn into office

A team of seven members who were selected to oversee the recruitment of nominees for appointment as chairperson and other five members of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) were sworn in on Monday at the Supreme Court in Nairobi.

In a gazette notice dated February 4, 2025, President William Ruto had appointed the Principal Administrative Secretary Arthur Osiya, Judith Walubengo, Moses Serem, Dr. Cecilia Mutuku, Prof. Marion Mutugi, Thomas Okoth Koyier and John Karani to be members of the selection panel for the appointment as the Chairperson and five members of the NPSC.

The Judiciary called on the selected members to exercise integrity during the recruitment process.

While officiating at the swearing in of the selected team, Deputy Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Mr. Paul Ndemo asked the members to act impartially and ensure only applicants that met the required threshold were appointed.

“You are likely to get thousands of applications. I think we have seen that trend and so you will require wisdom and ability to sieve through and see what is required so that we are really able to pick the best candidates that can serve this country,” said Ndemo.

He further asked the team to select the right people based on their qualifications, expertise and ability to deliver a strong and robust NPSC that would oversee the affairs of the Police.

Speaking at the same event, the Principal Administrative Secretary Arthur Osiya said the police forms a major cog in the delivery of justice to the citizens.

“We understand the current challenges that the police force is going through and therefore the exercise demands sobriety, integrity and patriotism from us,” he stated.

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) is accepting applications for commissioners for 2025. The deadline for applications is February 21, 2025 at 5pm.
