A section of Amani National Congress (ANC) party supporters from North rift Region are calling on the party to conduct fresh elections of new officials from the grass root to the national level ahead of 2022 national general elections.
Addressing the press in Eldoret on Wednesday the party supporters drawn from Uasin Gishu, Nandi, and Elgeyo Marakwet counties said it was only through the election of new officials that the party will have a leadership with a national outlook.
According to Juma Ryan Wango there was no way the party leader Musalia Mudavadi will win the presidency with the current party officials still holding their positions.
There is an urgent need to bring in the new ANC leadership to get a head start in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta after he exits office.
“We are appealing to Musalia Mudavadi to call for party elections to inject new blood in the leadership of ANC,” said Wango.
Another member Pamela Rahunga observed that currently ANC has a tribal outlook in its national officials.
She said the party lacks the face of Kenya at the national level noting that it was prudent to incorporate people from other regions in the leadership of the party ahead of the general elections.
