Choose between Chief Officer or Director, Nominated Executive told

Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi’s nominee for the position of Chief Officer for trade who was appearing before the County Assembly for vetting and consideration on Monday found it rough explaining to the vetting committee whether she will resign the director position once approved.

Jemimah Kairuthi Mburugu who has been the acting Chief Officer and Director for trade at the same time, was among the list of nominated Executive Officers when Muriithi reshuffled his government.

She was grilled for an hour during the vetting for the post of trade, tourism and cooperative development.

When asked by the committee if she was going to resign as a Director trade, a position she held until the time of nomination, she said that, once supplied with the contract letter she will look at it before making a decision.

“If you are required to resign from your permanent and pensionable term director job, would you do that?” the vetting committee asked.

“I will look at the contract letter in entirety before making the right decision,” Mburugu answered.

Further asked if she read advertisement, terms of employment and if she had a nomination letter, she said that she was going to supply the required documents before the decision is made.

“I saw the advertisement, read it but I don’t have the nomination letter, but when given time, I will get it from the county secretary,” she said.
