Homa Bay County Director of Education Eunice Khaemba has assured of a credible Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination as 35, 025 candidates sit for the respective test papers in the county.
Khaemba said the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has left no loophole in ensuring a water tight examination with this year’s exams packaged in a way that every paper is personalised with the candidates’ details.
“Each candidate has a personalised examination paper with their details on the scripts and no candidate can use any other paper apart from the ones provided,” she said, adding that this step is a security measure to curb movement of exam papers.
KNEC has also ensured that no extra paper has been packed to eliminate chances of pending copies, she informed.
The Director spoke today in Homa Bay town after the release of the examination materials to the 354 examination centres to serve the candidates, comprising 17, 484 boys and 15, 541 girls in the county.
Khaemba assured that they are well prepared to handle the ongoing examination with the center managers, invigilators, supervisors and the security teams having been briefed to prevent any examination irregularities and to deliver a credible exam.
She said there are no cases of hardship unlike in the previous years. “Initially, we used to take exams to hospitals and prisons but this time we have limited movement as a way of sealing any possible loopholes of monkey business happening,” she noted.
The CDE said candidates who are sick in the hospital and in a position to sit the exam will be ferried to the school but only after getting a proper direction from the doctor.
Khaemba said everything has been organised well from transportation of examination materials to the personnel involved in the administration of the KCSE exam.
