Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner, Beverly Opwora said that no single child in the county will miss a place in secondary school in the upcoming form one selections.
Speaking in Meru south, the County Commissioner said that the government has put down measures to ensure every child has access to secondary education.
She advised that those who are not willing to join secondary schools should enroll in village polytechnics and technical colleges, which will offer them an opportunity to learn technical skills.
The CC emphasized that once they join the vocational colleges, the government will support their education and living expenses during their period in the institutions.
She also added that the government will offer free secondary education to those in day schools in a bid to ensure every child has access to education.
The CC requested parents with children living with disabilities to go to the nearest government offices for the disabled for support, so as to ensure they don’t miss out on the opportunity.
She added that they will work hand in hand with the Ministry of Education to ensure the students have a conducive learning environment.
Opwora asked parents to support the children and be on the frontline to ensure they have reported to their respective secondary schools, including offering them their full support to enable the students be of help to their families and the government in the near future.
On Covid-19 health measures, the CC assured that the students will be educated adequately on how to observe the required protocols.
