Njuki to revive coffee society

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has pledged to revive the declining coffee cooperatives to boost production.

Some of the coffee cooperatives have in the recent past been affected by leadership wrangles leading to a decrease in the production and deliveries of coffee berries.

Speaking at his office in Chuka Town, the Governor said they will conduct elections in Mwiru Cooperative Society to elect new members that will ensure a productive management team to restore the society.

He noted the cooperative has 1450 registered members adding that they should participate in electing 10 committee members who will successfully run the society.

“Members will elect 10 committee members among them three will hold supervisory positions,” he said.

Njuki expressed confidence that they hope to restore the cooperative back to producing the best coffee and boost farmers’ productivity.

While at it, the Governor warned that all bars around the area of Mugwe, Kithangani and Magumoni must be regulated to ensure there was no interference with the working of the cooperative before and during the elections.
