Beneficiaries of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) in Kisii County have been warned against misusing the money allocated to them.
Kisii County Women Rep Janet Ong’era called for prudent utilization of any money disbursed by the affirmative fund to the deserving groups for self-advancement.
Speaking in Kisii town after releasing cheques of undisclosed amount to group leaders, Onge’ra clarified the allocation was for the just concluded financial year.
She said that NGAAF disbursed a total of Sh15 million to the vulnerable groups for economic empowerment during the ended financial year.
Ong’era further advised the groups to re-invest project profits for enhanced working capital for sustainability of their activities.
Explaining that only the group leadership had been invited for the cheques collection, Ong’era attributed the move to covid-19 protocols which discouraged social gatherings and urged the leaders to be good ambassadors by ensuring responsible utilization of government resources.
At the same time, the women rep urged group members to obey Ministry of Health protocols being enforced to contain further spread of the covid-19.
