Various government departments in Kiharu Division of Murang’a County are set to occupy new office block constructed by the local National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
The one-storey building is set to host Kiharu Assistant County Commissioner, Chief of Mjini location, and area Assistant Chief among other government officers.
Other departments to be hosted in the new modern building located at Mjini area in Murang’a town are offices of social development services, registrar of persons, civil registration and lands board, among others.
Commissioning the offices, Kiharu Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro said the new offices will offer an ample environment for several government departments to serve residents.
He said officers to be hosted in the new building have been serving locals in small offices shared by other government departments.
“The local NG-CDF has constructed this building to ensure our people can be served better. By hosting several departments, locals will be able to access different services under one building,” he said.
A similar building, Nyoro added, is being constructed in Kahuro and will also host ACC, chiefs and their assistants.
The legislator vowed to continue implementing development projects in his constituency. “I will continue implementing development projects especially education ones. We have put tiles in all 112 public primary schools and also renovated their classrooms. Currently we are installing cabros in the compounds of the schools,” he added.
The legislator further noted he will not engage in politics which will distract implementation of various projects in his constituency.
“I will continue to serve my people. The kind of politics I am interested in is that of development. I will continue respecting other leaders and will not engage in the politics of insults and exchange of words,” said Nyoro.
He said despite being ousted as Chair of the Parliamentary Committee for Budget and Appropriation, he will work with those who took over from him and offer assistance where needed.
Appreciating the new offices, a section of local leaders said the new building has changed the face of Mjini informal settlement.
Murang’a Township Member of County Assembly, Charles Machigo said apart from bringing services closer to people, security in the area will be enhanced.
“We appreciate our MP for facilitating construction of the new offices. Our people will be able to access services at their doorstep,” he added.
On his part, a local community leader, Lawrence Mutuota said they will continue to support their MP so as to deliver more development in the area.
Mutuota said despite Nyoro being ousted as chair of the budget committee, he will continue serving locals as their legislator.
