The newly appointed cabinet secretaries assumed their offices at the headquarters of various ministries after the National Assembly last week approved all the nominees.
At Afya House Cabinet Secretary for Health Susan Nakhumicha Wafula took over from the immediate former office holder Mutahi Kagwe.
Speaking today during the handover ceremony at Afya house, Wafula called upon everyone in the Ministry to join hands and make a difference in the health docket.
“As I come into the new office, I have been able to note the good job that you have done. If it were not for the good things that Senator Mutahi Kagwe has done, we will not be sitting here today comfortably so let’s make a difference,” she said.
And at Kawi House, the out-going Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Energy and Petroleum Amb. Dr. Monica Juma handed over the reins to Mr. Davis Chirchir who briefly met Heads of Departments (HODs) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) drawn from the two former Ministries of Petroleum and Mining and that of Energy.
Dr. Juma said, since taking over the running of the Ministry of Energy in October last year, there has been a marked shift in the narrative around energy issues in the Country linked to its strategic importance.
She noted that energy was a critical component of growth responsible for unlocking the potential of the country.
The CS is leaving the Ministry after being proposed for the position of the National Security Advisor awaiting confirmation by the National Assembly.
