NCAJ calls for seamless dispensation of Justice

National Council on the Administration of Justice Standing Committee on Court Users (NCAJ) has called upon all stakeholders in dispensation of Justice serving within Nyahururu law Court to work closely and smoothly to ensure seamless dispensation of justice.

The eight-member team led by NCAJ Chairman Justice Alfred Mabeya called upon members of the Nyahururu Court Users Committee to work as a team to enhance timely expedition of justice.

Justice Mabeya pointed out that though the Court Users Committee Members have distinct responsibility they play in justice system, they are not conflicting roles and hence should have one distinct aim of ensuring justice is accorded to the deserving members of the public.

Justice Mabeya who was addressing the Nyahururu Court Users Committee at Nyahururu law Court premises during a routine spot check appreciated the Committee for their unity and cordial working relationship.

He said the purpose of the visit was to hear from the committee the successes and challenges that the members are going through in the process of dispensation of justice.

National Police Service cited the perennial and rampart problem of illicit brew as well as drugs trafficking where only the petty offenders who are mostly employees (peddlers) are arrested and prosecuted in court leaving behind their employers who are the drug barons scot free.

The security agency noted that once the petty offenders are taken to court and sentenced these drug barons bail them out or pay their fines and they return back to the illegal businesses hence is hard to contain the illegal businesses.

However, Justice Mabeya through his wealth of experience in dispensation of Justice advised the security agency to go for the big fish in order to contain the vice adding that containing illicit brew and drug trafficking, being the major and rampant crimes would in the long run contain other petty crimes emanating from them.

Nyahururu law Court Chief Magistrate Evans Keago who also chairs the Nyahururu Court Users Committee appreciated the CUC members for their dedication to dispensation of justice despite the vastness of the area of jurisdiction of Nyahururu law Court.

Keago called upon all the Court Users especially the police officers to work closely with the court and Office of the Director Public Prosecution to ensure timely expedition of justice urging them to take summons to court positively not for scolding but for clarifications of information during proceedings for fair judgment.

Law Society of Kenya, Nyahururu chapter led by their chairperson, Maureen Muriithi called upon the NCAJ to push for increase in number of judicial officers especially the magistrates at Nyahururu law Court to enhance speed expedition of justice which the council promised to act accordingly.

NCAJ is mandated by Judicial Service Act to ensure operationalization of CUCs drawing membership from various justice agencies, both state and non-state actors and is chaired by Chief Justice.
