National Cereals and Produce Board warns farmers on distributing fertiliser

The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) has warned farmers against falling prey to those claiming that they are distributing and selling subsidised fertiliser.

A statement to newsrooms indicates that the board’s attention has been drawn to fake news circulating on social media regarding distribution of subsidised fertiliser.

“NCPB wishes to set the record straight that the board will not be selling or distributing any government subsidised fertiliser other than through the e-voucher subsidy programme together with other players in the private sector,” read the statement.

The statement further indicated that the public, especially farmers are encouraged to treat this information as fake and disregard it.

“All farmers and members of the public are therefore warned not to fall for the scam and to avoid participating in it. The board currently deals in commercial fertiliser which it sells through its depots in a free and open manner,” read the statement.
