Narok County targets youth to bring new ideas

Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu has directed the County Public Service Board to employ more young people in various departments to facilitate the infusion of new ideas and innovations in the county administration.

The call comes in on the backdrop of plans by the county government targeting to recruit over 700 employees for the positions of ward administrators, health personnel and Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers.

“The young people should also be given a chance to serve. We have many young people who have attained degrees but do not have a job. We want to give them a chance and see the new things they will introduce in the service,” he said.

Ntutu spoke today at the Narok County Assembly Chambers during the swearing-in ceremony of Lilian Wangari, who was appointed as a Board Member of Kilgoris Municipality, and Slyvia Nashipae as the County Public Service Board Secretary.

Governor Ntutu reminded the new employees that they are required to perform their duties with integrity and unwavering commitment, as the decisions they make impact the lives of the people.

“If you are not meeting the threshold set by the Constitution, you are in trouble because the wananchi have the power to demand accountability,” said Governor Ntutu.

He reiterated that the positions they hold are not for personal gain, favour or corruption, but they are to uplift the living standards of the people.

“Those given the opportunity to serve have the privilege of making a difference in the county. Please serve without bias. It’s not about power; it’s about trust,” he reminded the appointees.

Narok County Public Service Board Chairman John Kimanjoi said the board will continue supporting the county government to implement its mandate by ensuring they employ professional staff in the service.

He commended the outgoing County Secretary, Zipporah Gad, for her unwavering support and professional service she offered for the county and wished her well as she exited the service.
