Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) sixth round preparations are on top gear for the weekend cruising competition in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.
The championships dubbed Nanyuki Rally 2022 has attracted about 21 entrants among them notable names are Ian Duncan, Karan Patel and Raaji Bharij, who will drive alongside their navigators.
Speaking to KNA, Nanyuki Rally group Chairperson Bimal Patel said, Piers Daykan who has been out of the rally championships for about 12 years will this weekend compete alongside other motorsport enthusiasts and will use the Datsun 280 Z model.
The rally will start and end at Greystone. However, the race is organized into three stages at Greystone, Mlima Hema and Ole Naishu.
“Our route is based on two ranches, Ole Naishu which has been divided into two stages, and Mlima Hema,” said Patel.
He said the spectator stage and service park will be at Greystone, which is a very short competitive stage of 9 kilometres. Greystone will also act as the event’s power stage where those who win, will earn bonus points.
Patel said, Laikipia terrain is the best for motorsport since the driver and the navigator have to be very smart to win.
