The Kenya`s Rugby team, Kenya Simbas is bracing for a faceoff with Zimbabwe`s The Sables next Saturday at the Nakuru Athletics Club in their first bout with outsiders for the much coveted Victoria cup.
The Nakuru Rugby Events Coordinator, Edward Moseti says adequate security and logistical preparations are in place for some 10,000 spectators expected to grace the highly publicized match.
Speaking to reporters at a pre -match briefing in Nakuru on Wednesday evening, Moseti said Kenya Simbas is adequately prepared for the match that is scheduled to kick off at 4 pm.
The Sables were expected to jet into the country early today and later travel to Nakuru while the host Kenya Simbas will travel from the Capital Nairobi to Nakuru on Friday ahead of the contest.
Moseti says the Kenyan team is committed to strike an impressive showing at the duel that he says is expected to put the country at high continental rankings and make Kenya a preferred host for rugby matches in Sub Sahara Africa.
He said two homegrown players from Nakuru will have an opportunity to play in the match as a way of nurturing local players that will eventually propel Kenya to the competitive global stage.
The events manager commended the array of sponsors in the corporate sphere and Rugby enthusiasts locally for supporting the team all through.
