Nakuru County laxity exposed

The  laxity of Nakuru County workers in unclogging trenches has compelled taxi operators in the town to start a campaign to do it themselves.

The  Chairman of the People’s Power Lobby Group, Jesse Karanja said this kind of negligence of cleanliness in the town was a serious concern and residents were distressed about the heaped garbage, which he claimed may contribute to outbreak of water borne diseases when the rains commences.

Karanja  commended the taxi drivers for the kind gesture and urged other residents to take it upon themselves to clean their environment since laxity among county workers in the region was almost legendary.

However, he said the trash which ends up clogging the trenches was due to littering by the town residents and urged them to avoid such unbecoming behaviour.

The  Chairman was speaking on Monday as he witnessed the tax operators unclog trenches along Kenyatta Avenue.

He  urged the county Public Health Officers to ensure that the outbreak of anthrax at the Nakuru National Park does not spread to the residents since some unscrupulous businessmen might decide to sell uninspected meat.

The  Chairman said two people have already died of anthrax in Elburgon Sub-County and appealed to wananchi to avoid buying meat from neighbors whose cows have died of unknown causes.

He  also urged residents to take their livestock for vaccination, including dogs, at the county designated point so as to hasten the ongoing exercise of immunizing all animals in the county.
