The County government of Nakuru through the disaster management team today donated assorted foodstuffs to over 40 families at the Rigogo village in Mosop Ward, Rongai Sub-County.
The disaster management officer, John Muchai advised the citizens to avoid building on flood waterways in order to reduce the adverse effects of the ongoing heavy rainfall.
The residents led by the area MCA Alex Langat expressed their gratitude for the support and appealed to the county government to construct more culverts along the roads to reduce the flooding of their village.
The long-awaited rainy season after the prolonged drought of four years has caused havoc in the Rongai Sub-County where there are numerous seasonal rivers.
MCA Langat said some of the seasonal rivers had been forgotten since in the last ten years they have not experienced such heavy rainfall in the area.
However, he said they are grateful for the good rains, which have significantly increased pasture for their animals, and they are looking forward to a bumper harvest of maize and beans in September.
