Nakuru County partners with church to construct modern maternity

Nakuru County Government has entered into a public private partnership with the Kingdom Seekers Fellowship for the construction of a state-of-the-art multimillion referral Maternity Hospital in Bahati Sub-County.

Kingdom Seekers’ Senior Pastor Apostle John Kimani William said the Church would work closely with the government to ensure the maternity hospital which is expected to cost Sh300 million is completed within record time to ease congestion at the existing health facilities.

The one-stop facility with a 120 bed capacity will have both private and open wing as well as several delivery rooms.

The new maternity is set to house a pharmacy, modern diagnostic ultrasound centre, a theatre and even provide gynecological services.

The second floor will host post-natal and post Caesarian Sections, Newborn unit and an administration block that will effectively provide all essential care that mothers and their children need.

County Executive Committee Member for Health Dr Gichuki Kariuki said the new facility would help decongest the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital, and improve the quality and efficiency of medical service delivery in the region.

“With the growing statistics of the population in the county, there is need to invest more on Reproductive Health and reduce maternal and neonatal mortalities,” Dr. Kariuki said during the ground breaking ceremony in Bahati.

He said the county would equip and provide necessary human resources for the hospital to start operation soon after completion.

Also present was the Chief Officer for Public Health Dr. Daniel Wainaina.
