Regional commissioner flags off Nairobi peace caravan ahead of poll

Nairobi Regional Commissioner (RC) William Kang’ethe Thuku has called upon Kenyans to maintain peace during this electioneering period.

Speaking today at Dagoretti Sub- County, while launching peace caravan for Nairobi County in the run up to the August 9 General elections, Thuku said that Kenyans should be alive to the fact that there is life after every election and they should not allow misguided elements to disrupt their businesses and daily lives under the guise of fighting for political positions.

“It is my prayer that all residents of Nairobi wherever they are transform themselves into ambassadors of peace in the run up, during and after the elections,” said the administrator.

To ensure a peaceful campaign and elections, Thuku called upon politicians to be at the forefront of preaching peace during the electioneering period.

“We don’t want an election full of chaos, Kenya is a very peaceful country and it is imperative upon all of us to maintain peace during the electioneering period,” said the RC.

During the peace campaign, the convoy shall tour Kibera, Langata Shopping Centre, Embakasi Pipeline, Njiru, Ruai Market, Kasarani, Githurai 45, Makadara, Kamukunji, Eastleigh, Mathare, Westlands, Kangemi and Starehe.

Thuku reminded the young people that they should not be used by politicians to fight or throw stones noting that Kenya shall remain even after the elections.

The RC was accompanied by Dagoretti Deputy County Commissioner Tom Anjere, Chiefs and Assistant chiefs.

Themed ‘Tunakuhitaji wewe tudumishe amani tusipigane, Uchaguzi bila noma’ brought about Government and Non government officials to strengthen the peace campaign.
