Residents of Narok East Sub County have all the reasons to smile after the Narok county government upgraded the Nairagie Enkare health centre to a Level Four hospital.
The facility was equipped with a new male and female ward with a capacity of 45 beds each, a theatre room and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) that are well equipped with modern equipment. Also in the process of completion is a modern maternity ward in addition to one that is currently in operation.
Speaking during the launch of the upgraded facility, the area Governor Samuel Tunai said health is one of the flagship development initiatives by his administration, and is guided by the universal health care blueprint.
“My main agenda is to improve health and sanitation in the county so as to have a productive health population. My mission is to provide equitable, quality, acceptable and affordable health care services meeting the population needs for sustainable development,” said Tunai.
“This milestone is a deliberate effort towards meeting our universal Health Care goals. Universal Health coverage means that all people have access to the health services they need which include: prevention, promotion, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care, without the risk of financial hardship,” said Tunai.
The county has 30 health facilities distributed in 30 wards.
