Mwea ready for Agitech Expo 2024

The 2024 Agitech Expo that brings together industry players in the agricultural sector is scheduled to take place in Mutithi Mwea, Kirinyaga County.

The two-day event, October 11 and 12, to be graced by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Andrew Karanja, will involve exhibitions, demos, launching new products, and chatting with experts in the sector.

This year’s theme is “The Use of Smart Technologies in Scaling up Agricultural Value Chains from Seed to Market,” aimed at equipping farmers with adopting technology through the entire value chain. All systems are ready, with thousands of exhibitors, visitors, and farmers expected to participate.

Agitech Seedlings is an independent seedling propagation unit based in central Kenya, propagating seedlings of vegetables, herbs, fruits, and trees, for farmers of all capacities, from large scale to small scale to kitchen gardens, and distributed conveniently countrywide. It is also involved in agro-inputs distribution and offers expertise and understanding of the farmer’s needs.

Yara East Africa, a leading crop nutrition company, providing farmers in Kenya and Uganda with knowledge and best practices to sustainably improve crop yields, quality, and farmers’ profits, with over 30 years in agricultural development, will participate in the expo.

Kirinyaga being an agricultural county, Yara seeks to increase the profitability of the farmer, through knowledge and high-quality products and to develop sustainable business models.

The event will be open to the public to access exhibition booths and demo plots to learn and unlock smart technologies to enhance agricultural value chains.

Researchers will also get the opportunity to unveil their new product while explaining to farmers the advantages of the product as well as the procedure to use other things like farm chemicals.

The Agitech Grand Expo Team has successfully organised two previous events, Agitech Grand Expo 2022 and 2023, both of which received significant participation from key stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

Building on this success, Agitech Grand Expo 2024 is a continuation of their commitment to promoting agricultural advancements and fostering partnerships within the industry.
