Mwea MP purchases land for community school

Mwea MP Kabinga Wachira has bought a portion of land at Kianjogu village, Mwea West Sub-County to be used for construction of a community school in the area.
Wachira said the idea was mooted after area residents brought to his attention lack of a nearby school which forced many children from the village to miss basic education.
The MP’s personal assistant Mathani Kaboi speaking during the burial of Mzee Joel Ndege Maringa at the village said the three-acre piece of land had already been fully purchased, while modalities on how to put up an ultra- modern school complex were underway.
“Our MP wants to have a modern facility with primary and secondary sections, hence the need to have proper planning to attain maximum utilization of the available land,” Kaboi told the mourners Saturday.
He added that area residents had approached the local NG-CDF office expressing an urgent need for establishment of a school to serve the many children who found it hard to walk to Kinyaga primary school, several kilometers away especially during the rainy seasons.
The Personal Assistant said Kinyaga was also faced with myriad problems among them over enrolment and poor infrastructures which made the MP intervene.
Kaboi also said the late Mzee Maringa was among the local community leaders who were crusading for the establishment of a school in the village.
“The deceased was far sighted and I remember him for his active role in spearheading for the establishment of the school and his active role in citing the actual ground on which to put up the facility,” he said.
Meanwhile, construction of the school commences immediately, with Kaboi disclosing that initial intake of standard one and form one classes will be done early next year.
