Mutula launches Makueni County statistical abstract

The Makueni County Statistical Abstract (CSA-2024) will enhance availability of data that will facilitate the government in making informed data-driven decisions to hasten development in the county, area Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has said.

Mutula said data is a prerequisite for successful delivery of development objectives especially during the implementation of the county development plan that requires a solid framework of indicators and statistical data.

While saying that data will assist in monitoring progress of projects and ensure they remain on the right track, he also pointed out that corrective measures will be done at the same time.

The Governor said this at the Makueni PWD Centre in Wote town where he officially launched the Makueni County Statistical Abstract and the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) indicator handbook.

“The handbook contains sets of indicators to help in assessing our progress in the development agenda as envisioned in the plan. At the same time, we are unveiling our annual publication, the 6th edition of the CSA-2024 to enhance the availability of data and facilitate informed data-driven decisions,” said Mutula while addressing wananchi and government officials.

He further emphasized the need for monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to ensure successful implementation of government programmes and projects in the county.

“You recall that the rallying call in my manifesto was: “Our people, Our priority. I committed to adopt a holistic and result- based M&E framework with key action points, including establishment of an e- monitoring and evaluation system and building capacity in M&E. I am happy to let you know that we have a Government of Makueni County Projects Monitoring and Evaluation System (PMTS),” he observed.

Mutula further said that the system offers a unified platform aimed at enhancing efficiency, fostering transparency and ensuring accountability in monitoring and evaluation in tracking county programmes and projects.

“All stakeholders and community members will access the information on our county website. Anyone can log in and track programmes and projects in all status as well as provide feedback,” Mutula posed.

During the event, Ward development profiles for the last two years were also inaugurated showing programmes and projects implanted in the specific wards verified by the community and the decentralized staff.

Also, the Strategic Plan 2024-28 for the Department of Finance, Planning, Budget and Revenue was launched.

Present during the event included Executive Committee Member for Finance, Planning, Budget and Revenue Damaris Kavoi, Makueni Deputy County Commissioner Rashid Kwanya, wananchi and government officials from both levels of government.
