Muslims to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday

Muslims around the world are set to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday after the completion of fasting during the holy month of Ramadhan.

The Muslim faithful are expected to converge at various mosques and open grounds across the globe for special Idd prayers.

Most traders in Mombasa and other towns are enjoying booming business as Muslims prepare for the important event in the Islamic calendar.

Shopping centres like Nawal, Mombasa Mall in Mwembe Tayari and the ancient Mackinnon Market (Markiti) are witnessing a beehive of activities as Muslim faithful bought foodstuffs, goats, clothes and shoes in readiness for the celebrations.

The government has in a special gazette notice declared Tuesday, the 3rd May 2022 a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr.
