A section of political leadership in Kirinyaga County is agitating for the Jubilee party elections in order to have legitimate officials from the grassroots to the national level.
Led by Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri, the leaders maintained officials like the party Vice Chairman David Murathe were just handpicked for the convenience of the August 8, general elections.
“In order to give our party leadership democratic legitimacy and enable its officials to speak with authority, we must conduct elections soonest possible and also bring to an end the emerging supremacy battles among the ranks and file of the Jubilee administration, “Ndambiri said.
He likened Murathe to an Army General without foot soldiers due to his lack of party members’ support as required and further castigated him for bashing Governor Anne Waiguru for calling for the elections.
“Governor Anne Waiguru was exercising her democratic right which is enshrined in the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land and for Murathe to give her the public bashing yet he has no mandate to lead the Jubilee was an act of indiscipline and disrespect to the governor, “he said.
He said with the party having neither structures nor leadership at the county level supporters were feeling left out of its main stream activities.
As to whether Mt Kenya region will support the Deputy President William Ruto, come the 2022 general elections, Ndambiri said the matter was sorted out long ago.
“We are not wavering on this position since our people gave their word to him after President Uhuru Kenyatta gave his commitment that it was Ruto when he exited the presidency in 2022,” Ndambiri said.
Speaking at the Church of the Holy Ghost, Kagio in Mwea West Sub-County where he attended a Sunday service Ndambiri said those showing disrespect to Ruto were just doing it ignorantly since the die as to who the next president will be has since been cast.
