Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has lost his mother Margaret Wangechi.
Wangechi, a mother of seven died on Saturday morning when she was undergoing treatment in a Nairobi Hospital.
The senator told KNA that her mother has been in and out of hospital several times for management of diabetes and hypertension.
Murang’a leaders including governor Mwangi wa Iria, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and his Kigumo counterpart who went to condole the senator eulogized Kang’ata’s mother as a dedicated person whose contribution to the community should not go unnoticed.
Wa Iria in his condolence said he was saddened by death of Kang’ata’s mother, Wangechi saying she was a great person who loved and united members of the community.
“Murang’a mourns and celebrates the extraordinary life of this remarkable woman who was devoted to cultivate positive values not only to her children but to the society at large,” wrote the governor in his twitter handle.
Kiharu MP on his part said his constituency has lost an exemplary mother who was selfless and humble.
“Kiharu residents are mourning mother Wangechi, a mother who was loved by all for her good heart,” added Nyoro.
On her part, Kigumo lawmaker, Ruth Mwaniki who lost her mother in 2018 condoled with Irungu’s family.
“I was with the senator on Friday when I wished his mother quick recovery, not knowing she would leave us today. I went through the same journey last year. The senator’s case is extreme because both his parents were at the hospital. May she rest in eternal peace,” She said.
Nominated MP Maina Kamanda also condoled with the family of the Kanga’ta who is also the senate Chief Whip, terming the late mother a person who advocated for peace in the community.
