The County Government of Murang’a is in process of digitizing all land records of plots within urban and market areas in the County.
The move is targeted to streamline land transactions and safeguard property records as well combat irregularities associated with land transfers and ownerships.
In a public notice released, Friday, the County Administration indicated that the automation targets individuals, holding allotment letters or leases issued by the County Government, with free rural land excluded from the exercise.
“Note that free rural land owners will not be required to be part of the automation exercise as County land systems, specifically apply to individuals holding allotment letters or leases, and individuals with other land ownership documents within urban and market areas,” reads part of the notice.
To ensure the success of the exercise, the Governor, Irungu Kang’ata, Administration stated that it has scheduled a verification process for all the affected residents.
The plot owners are requested to visit their Sub-county offices on December 5 to confirm the accuracy of their records.
In this exercise, residents have been urged to present their identification cards, copies of lease agreements and allotment letters for verification.
The County Government further emphasized that automation will speed-up the process of documenting land transactions and eliminate the inefficiencies of manual systems, reducing risks such as record loss and errors.
Further, the system will simplify the processing of lease agreements, making it easier for landowners to access and manage their property records.

Residents with incomplete documents have also been urged to contact the provided hotline or visit their respective Sub-county offices for assistance.
The County Administration through the Department of lands also assured the public that support would be available throughout the verification exercise to assist all affected individuals.
