Murang’a County achieves over 90 percent in census

Murang’a County has registered over 90 percent coverage in the ongoing population and housing census.

In a report tabled before the County Census Committee on Thursday, various sub counties within the county had covered between 94 and 97 percent of the prelisted households by August 28.

County Census Officer, Peter Kamau, who also expressed confidence that the remaining households would be covered before the conclusion of the exercise on Saturday August 31, 2019, tabled the report.

County Commissioner, Mohammed Barre, said that the exercise had been carried out without major hitches and that it would achieve the intended goal.

He urged members of the County Census Committee to penetrate into the villages to ensure that every person had been enumerated.

The county is covered by 3202 enumerators who are accompanied by and equal number of village elders.
