Residents of Mumias town are set to benefit from improved service delivery following the upgrading of the town into a municipality status.
The Kakamega County Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya launched the Municipality Charter and inaugurated the nine member Municipal Board that will oversee the operations of the Municipality.
The Governor noted that with the new management structure, the Municipality will be expected to improve on its revenue collection and finance its operations fully.
He said the revenue raised is expected to be ploughed back to improve on infrastructure in the town to attract investors.
Oparanya asked the Municipal Board to empower inhabitants of the town through public participation to determine social services to be provided according to the needs of the residents.
