Mukurweini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia has launched the murraming of the Ngamwa-Kaini road in his constituency.
The 3.5 km stretch connects Mgamwa and Kaini villages. Kaini is a densely populated area that has for a long time faced challenges of poor road network.
Residents travelling from rural to Mukurweini town have been experiencing a difficult time walking long distances because of the bad condition of the road network.
Speaking during the launch, Kaguchia said the road construction would be done in two phases.
He said the first phase was ongoing and would be done within the next two weeks adding that it would involve bush clearing, grading, and graveling with 832.5 cubic meters of murram which is equivalent to 83 Lorries, watering, and compaction. The second phase will happen early next year, increasing the volumes.
Kaguchia also engaged the residents during the launch and were able to give their opinion on how their road should be constructed.
The legislator also assured them that he has taken steps to curb power outages which hit the area several times and ensure 100% power connectivity in the constituency.
He also highlighted plans he has to ensure issuance of bursaries are done transparently and also youth empowerment by equipping them with skills, applying labour-based operations in CDF projects, rehabilitation of schools as well as staffing of the schools in the constituency.
