The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) administration has assured nurses that they will fully comply with the Return to Work Formula to prevent any further industrial action.
The Referral hospital nurses halted their 15-day strike after the medical facility management negotiated a return-to-work agreement with the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN).
The MTRH Chief Executive Officer CEO Dr. Philip Kirwa, noted that following the discussions and negotiations they have had with the Kenya National Union of Nurses, the health workers have reached an agreement to resume their duties immediately.
“I am pleased to tell you that all the problematic issues have been resolved amicably and agreeably,” said Daniel Osoro, the KNUN branch manager.
Osoro urged the management of MTRH to solve issues amicably whenever presented by the union to avoid withdrawal of services by the workers.
He also thanked the hospital management led by the CEO for demonstrating willingness to deliberate on the recurring strike issue, since the development came barely three weeks after clinical officers called off their strike after signing a deal with the government.
The nurses also discussed and resolved grievances such as inadequate medical coverage, delayed deduction remittance and lack of promotions.
