Political appointees from Central Kenya have called upon Kenyans to support government projects saying that supporting the government is more beneficial than being in the opposition.
Speaking in Kaganda village of Kiharu Constituency, during the funeral service of Joseph Njenga, father to lawyer Adrian Kamotho, the chairperson of the Transport Licensing Appeals Board, the leaders urged wananchi to support government initiatives as they are intended to benefit them.
Led by the Economic Advisor in the president’s office, Moses Kuria and Deputy Statehouse Controller, Simon Gikuru, the technocrats said that although Kenyans have a right to oppose the government, they should not oppose even the initiatives that benefit them.
Kuria assured the people that the projects initiated by the government are for their benefit.
“The government has many ongoing projects in this region, for example the contractor working on Mau Mau roads is back on site and construction is ongoing,” he said.
“These projects benefit all Kenyans, those supporting the government and even the government critics,” Kuria added.
He further highlighted projects such as the ongoing construction of the Export Processing Zones in various counties, affordable housing projects and fertilizer subsidy which he said are all meant to benefit Kenyans.
“Initiatives such as the fertilizer subsidy program are continuing and those tea farmers who had paid more than 2500 per bag will be reimbursed by January,” he said.
Kuria called upon all Kenyans to embrace these opportunities to better their lives whether they support the government or not.
The deputy statehouse controller said that Kenyans should not pray for the downfall of their own government.
“If the President succeeds, we all succeed as a country and if he fails, we all feel the pinch,” Gikuru said.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, called for political tolerance among the leaders saying leaders have to focus on development and shun divisive politics.
Also present were the Head of Creative economy and special projects in the executive office of the president, Denis Itumbi and East African Legislative Assembly (EALA)MP Maina Karobia, who asked Kenyans to register for Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
