MP pledges to establish ICT hub to empower youth

The Igembe South Member of Parliament, Johnpaul Mwirigi, has promised to establish an ICT hub to engage jobless youths in online jobs.

Speaking while issuing National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) bursaries at Auki Primary School in Igembe South sub-county, the legislator noted that the project is not only targeted to engage jobless youths in online jobs but also enhance digital literacy.

The MP urged youths to take advantage of the hub once it is established and added that the residents will also benefit from free training to acquire digital literacy.

He further said that he will ensure all applicants for NGCDF bursaries will receive a share of the kitty.

“I appreciate all students and parents for turning out in large numbers to apply for the bursary, and I promise none of the applicants will be left out.” The MP said.

He called on students’ commitment in their academic endeavours and tasked the local administration with ensuring 100% transition.

He also thanked the national government for prioritising the integration of ICT into the national development agenda, adding that through online jobs, one is capable of earning more than Sh30,000 a week, hence addressing the high rate of unemployment among the youth.
