MP hints on supporting lunch programs in day secondary schools

Lurambi member of parliament Titus Khamala has expressed his willingness to support lunch programs in day secondary schools to reduce the financial burden of parents in the constituency.

The move aims to maintain school attendance by addressing issues where students are often sent home for failing to pay for lunch.

The individual stated that sending students home for fees and other expenses has negatively impacted their performance as schools have been unable to meet their targets.

Speaking during a visit to schools in the constituency, Khamala said he will convene a meeting with principals to arrive at a formula that would work out effectively on the program.

He expressed interest in launching a program early next year, funded by part of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF).

He said from January next year, he plans to allocate bursary funds to fund education and lunch programs, with the remaining funds allocated to infrastructure improvement.
