Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has told residents of Mt Kenya to stop bragging that they will be kingmakers in the presidential race come 2022.
Kiunjuri said the region no longer commands the clout to determine the holder of the presidency due to divisions based on support for both deputy president William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking Friday while attending a burial ceremony at Kiawara, in Kieni constituency of Nyeri County, Kiunjuri said the region should unite and form a formidable force, which can guarantee them a sizeable share in the government.
On the forthcoming Building Bridges Initiative referendum, Kiunjuri said that the residents should demand for their interests to be taken care of first adding that he supports the one man, one vote, one-shilling formula proposal.
He also urged leaders to desist from making inflammatory utterances which can bring chaos in the country, and said they should instead unite Kenyans for the prosperity of the country.
“We don’t want our country to go back to the 2007 route,’’ said Kiunjuri.
