Motorcycle riders in Mumias sub-county have been asked to exercise caution while on the roads for their own safety and that of their passengers.
Area OCPD Mr. Peter Katam said that during 2018, the sub-County has suffered 25 road accidents out of which nine were fatal and mostly attributable to carelessness of boda boda operators.
Mr. Katam who was speaking to KNA in his office Monday asked the riders to wear head gear and reflector jackets while on the road and ensure that their motorcycles were in serviceable conditions.
He said that police in the area have been mounting roadblocks along the major roads over the festive season with the view of impounding contraband goods being transported to the area.
Mr. Katam said police were also working closely with the Nyumba kumi team to fish out any suspicious people in the area who may be out to disrupt the peace of the residents as the festive season come to an end.
He asked parents to closely monitor their children who completed primary and secondary school levels of education and are now at home so as to save the children from joining wrong groups.
