More than 20,000 candidates are expected to sit for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) that kicks off on Monday morning.
Speaking to the press after officially opening the Examination container at the Busia County Commissioner’s office premises on Monday, the County Commissioner (CC) Kipchumba Ruto said that the 22,400 candidates will sit for the national examinations in 173 centers across the County.
“I must say that it is all systems go for the County of Busia for the 2023 KCSE. We have briefed all security officers, TSC and Education officials who are charged with the administration and management of the examinations,” he said.
Ruto added that all the examination centres have been provided with security officers, centre managers, invigilators and supervisors.
He advised the center managers to stick to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) regulations and avoid any irregularities and malpractices.
‘Students should pass their exams based on their training and not by being assisted,’ he said, warning that any official found aiding candidates in the exercise risked being arrested and prosecuted.
The CC noted that the County has received a lot of rains but no flooding situation has been experienced in Bunyala Sub County.
“We are also ready for any emergencies like cases of pregnancies and illnesses so that the affected candidates can sit for their examinations in appropriate places,” he said.
He further stated that the KCPE and KPSEA were administered smoothly across the County with no incident of examination malpractice reported.
