More than 100,000 residents vaccinated against cholera

A total of 105,542 people were vaccinated against cholera out of a target of 120,000 people the Health officer in charge of Vaccination in Tana River County Mr. Billy Mukamba has said.

Mukamba said since the first cholera outbreak case reported on October 12, 2022 to date,   17 persons have died from the disease in the County.

Speaking to the press today at Hola County Referral Hospital Mukamba said in Bura Constituency a total of 757 people were affected by cholera leading to the area being targeted for  vaccination campaign that started on February 10 to 20, 23.

The Health official said the turnout was good because it recorded 87percent of those vaccinated saying the doses have not run out therefore, those pockets areas that were not covered during the exercise will continue.

He called on the area residents to insure their environmental conditions were clean and that they boiled drinking water to avoid cholera.
