Kisumu All Stars secured a 4-1 victory over Mombasa Elite in the National Super League (NSL) match at Mbaraki Sports Club.
Brian Ombura was the first to score eight minutes into the game, two minutes later, Bruce Oduor added a second goal.
Despite Mombasa Elite’s efforts to equalize, Kisumu All-Stars maintained their momentum while the home side managed to pull it back with a penalty from Hakimu Msamu just before halftime after a handball from Kisumu All-Stars defender.
In the second half, Kisumu All-Stars substitute Noah Ngiendo had a massive influence on the game. He scored a brace in the 70th and 76th minutes, respectively. His striking precision ensured Kisumu All Stars’ won.
The second consecutive loss for the struggling Mombasa Elite, they risk relegation from the National Super League (NSL). Mombasa Elite Assistant coach, Felix Oguto, admitted that they are in a difficult position but ensure they win upcoming games to avoid relegation.
“The experience that Kisumu had was way above us so the plan now is to go back to the drawing board to rectify our mistakes. Our major problem is the striking force, we should work on it to ensure we score more goals to remain in the league,” said Oguto.
Mombasa Elite are currently in 17th place in the NSL standings with 19 points after playing 21 games, while Kisumu All Stars are in the fifth position with 36 points, also having played 21 games.
