Mobile Operators to issue Coronavirus campaigns on mobile phones

The  government through the Ministry of Health is collaborating with all mobile service operators among them Safaricom, Telkom and Airtel to disseminate information on Coronavirus disease to all mobile subscribers through their networks.

In a press statement sent to newsrooms on Monday, the Government Spokesperson, Col.(Rtd) Cyrus Oguna said the Communications Authority of Kenya has approved the issuing of the messages by the mobile operators on behalf of the government.

“The messages sent will bear the name of the Ministry of Health and government of Kenya logo for authenticity,” said Oguna.

He said for the sake of the wellbeing of Kenyans, the government will continue with the public awareness campaign until the disease is eradicated, adding that public awareness will help Kenyans be well informed and updated thereby preventing the spread of the virus. .

Following  the outbreak of Covid-19 disease globally, the government set up a to look into measures of stopping importation of the virus into the country.

The  measures include enhancement of preventive and disease management capabilities.
