The body of a primary school teacher who went missing on last Wednesday was found hanging from a tree at Chepchoina forest in Endebbes Sub County yesterday.
Police said the body of Ben Kiptoo, formerly a teacher at Nabeki primary school, was found inside the forest yesterday morning with a belt around his neck after a long search.
Trans Nzoia county police Commander, Ayub Ali said they were investigating the death and will bring to light whether Kiptoo committed suicide or was killed elsewhere and his body hanged on a tree.
The commander said the deceased had informed a colleague Wilfred Keror that he would seek medication at Kitale county Referral hospital on Wednesday but failed to return.
The teacher, Ali added, also called Keror the following day, Thursday informing him that he was in the bush next to Japata ADC farm.
After receiving the report immediately and working on mobile tracking signal that showed the deceased was at Chepchoina Forest, a team of officers conducted a thorough search on Thursday but did not trace him due to darkness.
“This morning is when we found the deceased hanging on a tree inside the forest with a belt around his neck,” said Mr. Ali.
According to him the deceased did not leave behind a suicide note and sometimes back had suffered a mental illness according to his family.
The body was removed to Kitale county hospital mortuary.
