Missing Nyamira teacher’s body found in a Nurse’s house

The decomposing body of a missing primary school head teacher was Sunday evening discovered in a nurse’s house in Egesieri village, Bonyaiguba Sub-Location, Nyamira County.

Confirming the incident to the press, Nyamira South Sub County Police Commander Moses Kirong’ said 47-year-old Ezekiel Gitangwa, was reported missing at the police station by his wife, Gladys Achoki, since 30th December 2022.

In her statement, the late Ezekiel reportedly left his home at Nyabite on 30th December 2022 to attend a relative’s wedding, but never returned home as was expected.

“After Gladys made a report of her missing husband at the police station, we immediately coordinated with other investigating officers and mounted a search for the reported missing person, whose phone was also out of reach. The lead tip was that at around 0900AM the same day the late Ezekiel left his home, he was seen being dropped by a bodaboda rider at Egesieri village,” explained the police boss.

“Intelligence tips led us to a house at Egesieri, village in Nyamira South Sub County, belonging to Agneta Agwata, a nurse at Nyamaiya health centre in Nyamira. Police officers broke the door to gain entry into the house since Agwata could not be immediately traced. The badly mutilated and decomposing body of Ezekiel was discovered in one of the rooms used as a poultry house, covered with a purple carpet,” confirmed Kirong.

Ezekiel’s remains were moved to Nyamira referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting autopsy as police zero in on his killers.

The deceased was the head teacher at Getengereirie primary school in Borabu constituency, Nyamira County and a renowned football referee for local football tournaments.
