Tayari village in Molo sub-county is in shock after the body of an underage girl was found dumped in a maize plantation.
According to the area Chief Hassan Waweru who confirmed the incident, the body was spotted by villagers who thronged the scene in the early morning hours but unfortunately none was in a position to identify the deceased.
Waweru said that the scene of the incident was horrific as the body of the girl who is below 18 years was soaked in blood after she had deep wounds on her neck and mouth.
He urged the police to carry out speedy investigations and unravel this issue that is worrying the locals.
The locals called for intensified patrols to curb such crime adding that those dealing with sale of illicit brews and drugs should not be tolerated but dealt with in accordance to the law as they contributed greatly to increase in similar incidents.
Waweru urged anyone with information that would assist the police officers in investigating the matter to share it so that those involved are arrested.
He termed this as an unfortunate incident but assured the locals of their security insisting on the need of embracing the nyumba kumi initiative.
The body has been taken to Molo sub-county mortuary pending further investigations.
