A family in Subukia, Nakuru County is mourning the death of their five year old child who was defiled then brutally murdered.
The girl, identified as Shantelle Njeri had been reported missing after she failed to return home after attending a church service on Sunday.
According to the girl’s mother, Anne Mwende, she last saw her daughter on Saturday when she took her to a local salon before returning to her place of work in Bahati.
Njeri was living with her grandmother Eunice Wambui who reported her disappearance at the Subukia police station.
Wambui said that the family was informed about the discovery of the body of a young woman that had been found and taken to Nyahururu hospital mortuary which they positively identified as that of their daughter.
She further said that the body had been tied up in a sack and dumped with the face badly disfigured and the eyes gouged out.
Wambui said they were yet to establish who lured the young girl from the church compound, where eye witnesses said they had seen her singing with other children.
The family is now appealing to well-wishers to help them raise funds to conduct a postmortem and also bury the deceased.
Subukia MCA Mary Waiganjo has called on well-wishers to support the family and also called for speedy investigations to bring to book the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
