Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha has said that the Ministry has reduced capitation each school receives due to a shorter academic term ahead of schools opening Tuesday.
Addressing the press at Kereri Girls High school in Kisii town, Magoha noted that the government has ensured every primary and secondary school receives its capitation by Friday.
Magoha said the government had already allocated 25.9% of the budget to capitation.
Magoha also urged school heads not to send students back home due to lack of school fees.
CS Magoha also noted the government would commission second phase construction of CBC classrooms this week adding that the government was working with private schools to convert their primary schools to junior secondary schools.
He urged the next government to build more classrooms to ensure children have a place to learn.
