A National Government administrative officer in Siaya is calling for a partnership with military veterans from the area to help improve security.

Speaking during the launch of the Siaya chapter of the Military Veterans, Assistant County Commissioner Koiyet Kaleke said the veterans’ experience can be exploited by serving security officers to assist in the maintenance of law and order.

“You have experience and ideas on how we can manage and assist our people to maintain law and order,” said Kaleke during the event held at the IEBC hall in Siaya town.

The assistant ACC said there was need for structures to accommodate the veterans right from the lowest administrative structures adding that a stable and secure nation is all that is required for development.

His colleague, Wilfred Daudi, who represented Siaya County Commissioner, Norbert Komora during the occasion called on the veterans to be agents of positive change in the society.

Daudi said that the office of the CC was ready to support the new chapter.

The Military Veterans Siaya chapter interim chairman, Brigadier (retired) George Odhiambo Walwa called on the veterans to be each other’s keeper, stressing the need for unity.

Brigadier (rtd) Odhiambo called on the members to engage in meaningful activities that will improve both their lives and that of the community.
