The United Disabled Persons of Kenya Organization (UDPK) has come out to train Person’s Living with Disability (PLWDs) on the tendering and procurement procedures.
The facilitator from UDPK, the umbrella body for the disabled persons organization (DPOs) in Kenya, Mr Ken Oyier, while speaking at a local hotel in Migori town, said that they will train the disabled-on issues of government tendering and procurement processes both at national and county government levels.
The official said that the United Disabled Persons of Kenya Organization works to capacity build and strengthen Disabled Persons organization for self-advocacy.
He noted that by training PLWDs on tendering and procurement processes, they will enlighten them on their rights in the entire tendering processes.
Mr Oyier, who is also a governance expert, said that many persons living with disability have no knowledge on the tendering and procurement processes and have in many instances been taken for granted on how to access and win tenders meant for them both at the national and the county levels.
He said that the two-day training will help to expose Migori PLWDs on the issues of how to bid and procure various tenders that will help improve their living standards.
